The article deals with the history of Chrudim factory since its founding in 1867. It sums the circumstances of production termination
in 1956 and follows the fate of the buildings to present days.
The article mentions some important figures present at the birth of the factory – František Wiesner, Josef Klimeš and Jan Jirek;
there are also mentioned some significant professionals in the field of sugar-making who worked in Chrudim – František Urbánek
and Vilém Faber. A considerable part of the text is devoted to the machinery and especially the deliveries realized
by Chrudim-based machine works, Fr. Wiesner. Since the buildings on the premises were preserved to present days, the second part
of the article covers their fates after the production termination. The area of the company served as a storage place for almost
forty years. It underwent a vast reconstruction in the last twelve years and found a new use. The article also mentions the fate
of the neighbouring distillery which has been producing spirit since its founding in 1871 up to present days.

Článek se zabývá historií cukrovaru v Chrudimi od jeho založení v roce 1867. Konstatuje okolnosti ukončení výroby cukru v roce 1956
a sleduje osudy budov cukrovaru až do současnosti.
Jsou uvedeny význačné osobnosti spolupůsobící v počátcích při vzniku cukrovaru – František Wiesner, Josef Klimeš a Jan Jirek,
ale také významní cukrovarničtí odborníci působící v Chrudimi: František Urbánek a Vilém Faber. Značná část textu je věnována
strojnímu zařízení cukrovaru a speciálně dodávkám realizovaným chrudimskou strojírnou Fr. Wiesner. Protože budovy závodu zůstaly
prakticky v původním rozsahu zachovány dodnes, je druhá část článku věnována jejich osudům po ukončení cukrovarnické výroby.
Areál sloužil téměř čtyřicet let převážně ke skladovacím účelům. V posledních dvanácti letech prodělal rozsáhlou rekonstrukci
a našel nové využití. Článek zmiňuje i osudy sousedního lihovaru, který od svého založení v roce 1871 až dodnes stále produkuje líh.
