History of Sugar Industry Research Institute
One hundred years ago (22 September 1923) saw the foundation of the Sugar Industry Research Institute in Prague. The article talks about the beginnings of sugar research from 1812, the research station
of the sugar association founded in Prague in 1859 and the sugar research station founded in 1896 at the Prague Polytechnic. Above all, however, it describes the history of the Institute, the important
figures connected with its activities as well as the results and impact. The institute was founded in Prague – Střešovice and in 1951 it changed districts and moved to Modřany. In 1996 it was transformed
into a joint stock company bearing the name “VUC Praha”.
Před sto lety (22. 9. 1923) byl založen Výzkumný ústav cukrovarnický v Praze. Článek zmiňuje počátky cukrovarnického výzkumu od roku 1812, výzkumnou stanici cukrovarnického spolku založenou v Praze roku
1859 i výzkumnou stanici cukrovarnickou založenou roku 1896 při pražské polytechnice. Především však popisuje historii ústavu, jeho významné osobnosti a výsledky činnosti. Ústav byl založen v Praze – Střešovicích,
v roce 1951 přesídlil do pražských Modřan. V roce 1996 se transformoval do akciové společnosti VUC Praha.
